Virginia Beach, Va. (WTKR) - Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation is celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2016 and they're gearing up for a special deal for city residents.
Sunday, they'll offer a one-year-membership for $60 to all Virginia Beach residents during their Open Houses.
All 6 Virginia Beach Recreation Centers will host the Open Houses on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. where new and expired members who are residents of Virginia Beach can buy the annual adult or senior membership for just $60.
The Open Houses will feature fitness demonstrations, facility tours, sports and children's activities at no cost.
Recreation Supervisor David Green says the centers have already seen a spike in attendance after the holidays, and he expects even more people will join during the promotion.
"We are going to get them in here, make them want to join and we are going to keep them as our members because I've got a feeling once people get into see our facilities and how nice they are and our equipment and everything we have to offer then I expect them to stay with us because you can't beat the value, it's an awesome value," he told NewsChannel 3's Todd Corillo Friday.
