Virginia Beach residents install new cameras to fight crime

Posted

Virginia Beach, Va. - Residents in one Virginia Beach neighborhood are taking action against crime.

One woman says she  just got a new security system installed after vandalism problems reported in her Ocean Park neighborhood.

"People’s windows are getting smashed and various bits and pieces being taken,” says Kate Beba.

It's a problem throughout Hampton Roads.

In Virginia Beach alone, last week we told you about a bunch of problems at the Vantage Apartments. Several car windows broken and police sent us images of guys going into cars on Knights Bridge Lane.

“Recently in the last few months, it seems to have escalated but nobody seems to have seen anything," Beba.

Now some are hoping more cameras will make people safer.

“Hopefully, it'll act as a deterrent to whoever’s doing it. It's just a very uncomfortable feeling,” says Beba.
