Portsmouth, Va. - Police have identified the victims of an overnight shooting as 49-year-old Wayne Davis and 48-year-old Linda Lassiter.
Police found them shot to death inside of a car.
According to police, officers were initially called about a car accident in the 400 block of Loren Crescent.
When they got to the scene, they found Davis and Lassiter inside of the car with gunshot wounds to the upper body. Medics pronounced them dead at the scene.
A family friend of Lassiter tells NewsChannel 3 that Lassiter and Davis' friend was also in the car when the shooting happened.
She says the friend said another car pulled up and asked about the truck that they were in, and began to shoot.
NewsChannel 3 asked Portsmouth Police about this third person, and we are still waiting to hear back.
Family members of Lassiter say describe her as a wonderful a mother to four children and grandmother to four others.
"She was very caring, if she knew you she would walk up to you and kiss you and hug you no matter who you were," says Lassiter's daughter, Brooke.
Lassiter's father, Horace, says she was dating Davis for about five years.
"He was a nice person and he's got a nice family," he says. " I don't know anybody that disliked either one of them."
Lassiter's family tells NewsChannel 3 they are having some trouble paying for her funeral arrangements, and have set up a GoFundMe page.
"That was my baby, she wasn't a street girl, she wasn't somebody that nobody cared about, it was my daughter, and I won't rest until I found the people or person that did it," says Horace.
