VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - A man is dead and another is in jail after a stabbing in Virginia Beach.
Police say they received a call around 6:43 p.m. Saturday for a stabbing at Members Barber and Beauty Salon located at 1021 Virginia Beach Boulevard.
MPO Tonya Pierce with Virginia Beach Police says when they arrived on scene they found 35-year-old Derell Jovan Stephens suffering from life threatening stab wounds. He was immediately transported to a local hospital where he later died.
Edward Brooks, 45, of Virginia Beach was taken into police custody and charged with Murder.
An employee at Member's Barber and Beauty Salon tells NewsChannel 3 that Brooks worked at the shop for ten years, and Stephens worked there for two years.
He says he did not hear an argument, but then saw the two of them fighting and tried to break it up.
"They weren't arguing, nothing, it just happened," says Donnell Story. "We all work together, you never thought something like that would happen, we never have problems in here, never."
Brooks is currently being held in the Virginia Beach Correctional Center without bond.
