UPDATE: Wesley Hadsell pleaded guilty to his federal ammunition charge in court on November 6th as part of a plea agreement. Hadsell will be sentenced in March. Prosecutors are expected to try and prove he's an armed career criminal. To that, he could face up to life in prison.

Norfolk, Va. - From jail, Wesley Hadsell has told us he is not guilty of federal charges he's facing.

Documents show police have watched Hadsell since his adopted daughter AJ vanished in March, and was found dead in April. But so far, the most serious charge he faces comes from a search of his hotel room. Police said they found bullets, and because Hadsell is a felon, that's illegal.

Now a new indictment says Hadsell had bullets not only at the hotel this year, but also in December of 2013. Those dates coincide with another bit of evidence police uncovered. Court records show police found a video on his cell phone showing him and AJ at a Chesapeake shooting range.

By phone earlier, NewsChannel 3's Marissa Jasek asked Hadsell about that video. At first, he said he didn't take it, that someone might have shared it with him. But then he admitted that was a lie.

“Well we did share it, but I don`t know if it`s the original or the shared because when you change phones you`ve got to redo everything,” said Hadsell.

The new indictment also charges Hadsell for the bullets police found in his hotel room in March. He is also facing a state charge after police said they found heroin residue. AJ died of heroin poisoning.

According to Keith Kimball, his federal defense attorney, Hadsell plans to plead guilty to the purchase and possession of ammunition from the 2013 incident. This will be part of a plea agreement, Kimball says, where the second count of possession will be dismissed. The plea agreement hearing is scheduled for November 6th.
