Suffolk, Va. - A man was shot in a north Suffolk neighborhood early Friday morning, according to Suffolk Police.

Emergency dispatchers received a call at 1:24 a.m. about a shooting incident in the 500 block of Peafowl Court in the Bob White Landing neighborhood.

Police say when they arrived they found a male victim in his 50's suffering from a gunshot wound. Crews treated the victim on scene before transporting him to a local hospital and is in stable condition. Police also say he lives in the house where the shooting happened.

Neighbors are shocked and left shaken up after the incident.

"It's a little scary. It feels a little scary to know that that went on and that we don't know anything about it," said Karen McClung, who lives in the neighborhood. "We haven't seen any police officers patrolling the neighborhood. It would've been nice to see that. Yeah it's a little alarming that that happened.'"

The investigation is still in its beginning stages, but authorities say the suspect is a light-skinned black male wearing a hoodie covering his face.
