Norfolk, Va. (WTKR) - The Navy's new Chief of Naval Operations met with Sailors at Naval Station Norfolk Tuesday.

Admiral John Richardson relieved Admiral Jonathan Greenert during a ceremony at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland on Friday, September 18, 2015.

In just his first days on the job, Admiral Richardson traveled to Norfolk to participate in his first All Hands Call with Sailors.

For the majority of the hour long session at a theater on base, Admiral Richardson fielded questions ranging from training and housing allowances, to whether the Navy will utilize 3-D printing technology at sea.

He also reaffirmed a commitment to shortening scheduled deployments to 7-months in duration by fiscal year 2017 and maintaining security at Navy bases.

"It's something that really not even one size fits all. It's got to be done almost installation by installation, place by place because there's so much variation," Admiral Richardson told NewsChannel 3's Todd Corillo following the All Hands Call.

Admiral Richardson is the 31st Chief of Naval Operations and serves as a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
