Newport News Police investigating robbery at Quality Inn

Newport News, Va. – Police need your help investigating a crime that happened at a Quality Inn on J. Clyde Morris Boulevard.

An unknown man entered the hotel and asked about room mates on September 4 at 3:48 a.m.

Around 4:30 a.m., two men entered the hotel lobby and robbed the clerk at gunpoint.

Investigators think that the man who first entered the lobby returned with an accomplice and may have been involved in the robbery.

The first robbery suspect had the handgun and is described as a black male around 6’2″ and 300 pounds.  He was wearing a cream colored sweater, tan jeans, white sneakers and a light t-shirt covering his face.

The second suspect, who jumped behind the counter, is described as a black male that is 5’8″ and around 135 pounds.  He was wearing a light gray long sleeve shirt, blue baseball shorts with blue and white stripes and black sneakers with red trim.  He had a red jersey covering his face.
