Norfolk, Va. - Students at the Academy for Discovery at Lakewood School hopped off of their buses and into their brand new school.
The school now has a style of learning that students there say they've never experienced before.
The Academy of Discovery at Lakewood is Norfolk Public Schools’ newest edition.
It’s a very unusual, if not completely unique school housing grades 3-8. 700 students that were picked to come here out of 1,250 come from different schools all over the city of Norfolk
But when students walk through the doors, it's anything but basic. They have special project rooms with dry erase boards as walls and even a 3D printer.
Perhaps the most remarkable thing about the new school is their recent award of international baccalaureate status. In about two years, they will be an official IB school for grades 6 to 8.
