Hampton, Va. - Police have now arrested the man who they say shot and killed an 18-year-old man over the weekend.

They've arrested Zuri Anthony Reeves.

They say Reeves killed 18-year-old Kare Stallings on Thomas Street near N. Armistead Ave. and Rip Rap Road.

The shooting occurred at around  8:30 p.m.

The victim was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Reeves has been charged with one count of murder and one count of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Reeves turned himself in at the Hampton Police Headquarters on Thursday without incident.

He is now in the custody of the Hampton City Jail.

Stallings' friends and family are looking to each other for support. A group of them gathered in the park where he was killed for a candlelight vigil.

He is described as a good person with lots of friends and two young children.

Neighbors in the area are now also looking at the neighborhood differently.

"We have a lot of people that come through, lots of traffic people coming and going and people all over at the basketball court and you just never know who is over there and what they are up to," says Deborah Brown who has lived on the street for a decade. "That really it touched me hard. I'm really tired of seeing our youth killing each other, and it really bothers me."

She is hoping this tragedy will prevent another murder from happening at the park that so many residents enjoy.
