Chesapeake Va. - Thursday afternoon storms caused major damage to homes in the Hickory section of Chesapeake.

Homeowners say winds uprooted trees, some landed on cars, others on homes. Winds also blew off parts of people's homes and in Peter Alvich's case, his roof was blown off.

"I've never seen anything this strong nothing that would just blow off a roof," Alvich explained.

Unfortunately, the outside of his home wasn't the only part that was affected by the storms.

"I have a lot of water damage on the second floor the water has come trough the attic and into the bedrooms."

Despite the damage to the area, residents say they are happy to hear that no one was hurt.

"You can replace everything else but you can't replace lives."

Police Dispatch confirm to NewsChannel 3 that there were no injuries during Thursday's storms.
