Two arrested following brawl at Hampton Denny’s

Hampton, Va. - Two people have been arrested and an employee was injured after a huge brawl broke out inside of a Hampton Denny's on Thursday morning.

This happened in the 1000 block of West Mercury Boulevard.

Officers were told there was a fight in progress in the parking lot.

When officers arrived, they tried to calm the situation down but one person assaulted one of the officers, according to Sgt. Jason Price with the Hampton Police.

That person has been identified as 29-year-old Mario Ivan Wright. He has been charged with one count of assault and battery of an officer.

Police also arrested Albert Lamarr Johnson, a 31-year-old Newport News man. He has been charged with being drunk in public.

Both men have been released.

The officer who was assaulted was not injured. An employee, a 48-year-old woman, was hit during the fight and she suffered minor injuries.

Other charges are pending officials say.
