Man accused of killing 2-month-old son in Virginia Beach

Virginia Beach, Va. –  A man is facing murder charges after his 2-month-old son passed away.

According to a search warrant, the child’s mother took him to the Portsmouth Naval Hospital with a large knot on the side of his head. The document says the child was in the care of his father when the injuries occurred.

Officials say the incident happened between 9:30 p.m. May 27th and midnight May 28th in the 1700 block of Lord Tennyson Arch.

Now Deandre Routt has been charged with second degree murder. He has a bond hearing set for Wednesday, July 15th.

He has a preliminary hearing on August 18th but this one will be continued.
