Patrick’s forecast: Extreme heat, then some relief

Posted

Patrick Rockey’s Live VIPIR Forecast

Be VIPIR Ready for the hottest day of the year on the way.

We’ll get another taste of extreme heat on Tuesday. A southwest wind ahead of a cold front will send the mercury soaring into the triple digits for many of us. The record high for tomorrow’s date is 99 degrees set back in 1988. That record may just fall. And we’re expecting a big dose of humidity, as well. That will give us heat index values of between 105 and 115 in the afternoon.

We’ll only have a slight chance for a cooling shower or storm during daylight hours. But some showers and storms are more likely in the late evening hours as a cold front pushes through.

Behind that cold front, we’ll see some relief from the heat and humidity. Expect highs on Wednesday and Thursday in the upper 80s and lower 90s, before we return into the mid 90s by Friday.

A more powerful cold front will bring us stormy weather this weekend. We’re looking at a good chance for storms on both Saturday and Sunday. The payoff: a significant drop in temperatures and humidity by Sunday and Monday. Right now, I’m forecasting highs in the lower 80s on Sunday and upper 7os on Monday. Stay tuned.
