Patrick’s forecast: Record-breaking heat today, but relief on the way

Hottest day of the year. Today's weather will be going into the record books. For the second day in a row, we broke our high temperature record at Norfolk International Airport. And many of us hit the century mark. Here are some of today's highest temperatures (so far):

Williamsburg 100
Newport News 100
Chesapeake 100
Virginia Beach 100

Thankfully, we won't be breaking any records tomorrow. A cold front will cross the region tonight, bringing us lower temperatures and humidity on Wednesday. It'll be a pretty typical June day, with a mix of sun and clouds and highs in the mid 80s.

It does get warmer and more humid through the rest of the week. But we aren't talking about the dangerous, record-breaking heat we've just endured.

However, it does look like the official start of summer on Sunday will also start us on another heat wave, with highs well into the 90s for much of next week.
