Heat. Humidity. Storms. It's our summer recipe and we're getting a taste of it a few weeks early.
A powerful cold front is marching in our direction, sparking a line of strong-to-severe storms to our west. A few of those storms could swing through some of our northern communities later this evening. But it looks like the bulk of the stormy weather will hold off until Tuesday.
We'll wake up to a mix of clouds and sunshine in the morning, with a slight chance for a stray shower. Showers and storms are looking more likely in the afternoon and evening hours, especially across eastern North Carolina. Some of these could produce gusty winds and heavy downpours.
The cold front should clear the region by early on Wednesday morning, leading to a milder, less humid day. Expect highs in the low-to-mid 80s. Enjoy it while it lasts.
We're expecting highs back in the 90s through the rest of the work week. We should enjoy plenty of sunshine on Thursday and Friday. But storms are possible both days this weekend.
