Chesapeake, VA – Grassfield High School’s Grant Holloway and Lauryn Ghee are two of 28 track and field athletes selected to represent the United States in the Caribbean Scholastic Invitational hosted by the National Scholastic Athletics Foundation in Havana, Cuba.

As a junior, Grant Holloway has already accomplished so much on the track. Along with being named the New Balance Indoor National Champion, two-time All-American, and nine-time state champion, Holloway holds the state record in long jump, high jump, and hurdles. This past weekend, Holloway scored 46 points alone to lead Grassfield to a Group 6A state title. In Cuba, Holloway is just looking forward to “going out there and having fun, as well as competing with the top kids on Earth.”

Sophomore, Lauryn Ghee, also brings many accomplishments to the table, along with huge dreams. With 100, 200, and 400 meter times that rank in the nation, Ghee hopes to one day “be on the podium for the Olympics.” Like teammate, Grant Holloway, Ghee excels not only on the track, but also in long jump and high jump.

Good luck to both young athletes as they compete on June 12th and 13th in Havana, Cuba!
