Hampton, Va.  - It has been 10 years since Hampton Police took action to help Connecticut authorities bring in a murderer, but their work a decade ago may bring closure to many more families today.

In May 2005, New Britain Police asked Hampton Police to assist in the arrest of William Howell. He was wanted for the murder of Nilsa Arizmendi and was hiding out on the Peninsula. Although Arizmendi's body was never found, her blood was found in Howell's van as well as other people's blood.

Now New Britain Police are working to match that blood to the remains of seven women found behind a strip mall. The remains of three women were found there in 2007, a few weeks the remains of four more were unearthed.

This week, Connecticut Chief State's Attorney, Kevin Kane, admitted that the city has a serial killer on its hands, but police say they are not worried.

"We have no reason to believe that there is any threat to the general public at this time," said New Britain Police Chief James Wardwell.

According to sources, police feel that way because the person responsible is behind bars. They have named that person as Howell. He has been at the Garner Correctional Institution for the last 10 years for the murder of Arizmendi.
