There are curfew laws for minors in every city in Hampton Roads.

Virginia Beach
- It shall be unlawful for any minor under the age of eighteen (18) to be present on any street, road, alley, avenue, park or other public place in the city, or in any vehicle operating or parked thereon, between the hours of 11:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m., unless accompanied by the parent, guardian or other adult person having the care, custody or control of such minor.(Code 1965, §§ 23-13.1—23-13.3; Ord. Chesapeake
- For minors under 16 years of age, the hours of 11:01 p.m. through 5:00 a.m., Sunday through Saturday, and
- For minors 16 years of age and older, the hours of 12:30 a.m. through 5:00 a.m., Sunday through Saturday.(Ord. of 1-17-63, § 23-22; Code 1970, § 17-13; Ord. No. 00-O-080, 6-27-00; Ord. No. 00-O-090, 7-11-00)
Norfolk
- It shall be unlawful for any minor under the age of eighteen (18) to be present on any street, road, alley, avenue, park or other public place in the city, or in any vehicle operating or parked thereon, between the hours of 11:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m., unless accompanied by the parent, guardian or other adult person having the care, custody or control of such minor.(Ord. Portsmouth
- It shall be a violation of this section for any minor 17 years of age and younger to be and remain in or upon any public place, including, but not limited to, any street, sidewalk, alley, playground, park or place of amusement in the city between the hours of 11:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m.(Code 1973, § 21-167; Code 1988, § 24-8; Ord. Suffolk
- It shall be unlawful for any minor under the age of 16 years to be and remain in and upon any street, avenue, road, alley, park, vacant lot, playground, wharf, dock, place of amusement, or in and upon any other public place whether of like kind or not, in the city, between the hours of 11:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. of the following day unless such minor is accompanied by his parent, guardian or other adult person having the care and custody of such minor, or is on an emergency errand or legitimate business and has a written statement to that effect signed by his parent, guardian or other adult person having the care and custody of such minor.
- It shall be unlawful for any minor between the ages of 16 and 18 years to be and remain in and upon any street, avenue, road, alley, park, vacant lot, playground, wharf, dock, place of amusement, or in and upon any other public place, whether of like kind or not, in the city, between the hours of 12:00 midnight and 5:00 a.m. of the following day unless such minor is accompanied by his parent, guardian or other adult person having the care and custody of such minor, or is on an emergency errand or legitimate business and has a written statement to that effect signed by his parent, guardian or other adult person having the care and custody of such minor.(Code 1976, § 18-6)
Newport News
The city of Newport News voted to change curfew laws in May. As of June 1st, the curfew laws will be:
Younger than 18: 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Friday and Saturday.
Curfews apply to anyone younger than 18 who is on a public street or public place unless they are with a parent or guardian, are on their way to or from a job, or they are running “an emergency errand or legitimate business” directed by their parent or guardian.
Hampton
The City of Hampton voted to change curfew laws in May. As of June 1st, the curfew laws will be:
Ages 13 and younger: 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. every day
Ages 14 to 17: 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. Friday and Saturday.
