Norfolk, Va. - March 9th marks the 153rd anniversary of the Battle of Hampton Roads in the Civil War.
The battle was fought in 1862 between the USS Monitor and the CSS Virginia (formerly the USS Merrimac) over two days in the area where the current Monitor Merrimac Memorial Bridge-Tunnel sits today.
It was the first battle between ironclad warships and it received worldwide attention.
