Man sentenced after patron shot during attempted robbery in Virginia Beach

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – A Virginia Beach man was sentenced in court Wednesday for his involvement in an attempted robbery of a business in 2014.

Marvin Thompson will spend 7 years in prison.

During the incident, one suspect was shot and killed in an exchange of gunfire and one customer was injured by the gunfire.

The customer has since then recovered.

The shooting happened in the 5200 block of Cleveland Street. Officials were notified at 12:50 p.m.

They have identified Marvin Dale Thompson as a suspect in this case.

He was then charged with assault, use of a firearm, attempt to commit noncapital offense and conspiracy to commit a felony.
