NewsChannel 3 is honoring students taking action.

Each month, NewsChannel 3 and our partners Ynot Pizza and Italian Cuisine will honor local students who are making a difference in their schools and communities.

Tallwood High School senior Elisia “Ellle” Hamm is the first recipient of the Students Taking Action Award. She is the founder of Couture for a Cause.

“It’s a non-profit organization I started in the ninth grade, working to help disadvantaged children in my community,” Elle said.

What started four years ago as an idea for her senior project has blossomed into so much more.

She helps to build confidence through an etiquette program for girls in the Seatack community called Elle's Belles and a modeling camp, the Diva Academy.

“I work with them so they fully understand the concept of self-worth, how to really value themselves and their peers. These lessons are carried with them throughout life,” Elle said.
