Portsmouth police identify man wanted in fatal shooting

Portsmouth, Va. – Portsmouth police have identified the man involved in a fatal shooting, and are asking for help locating him.

33 year-old Lawrence L. Gordon, Jr. is wanted for murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Gordon allegedly shot 32 year-old Melvin Brown on the evening of October 25th in the 900 block of Queen Street.

Brown was taken to a hospital where he later died.

Gordon is a light-skinned black man who stands approximately 5’6” tall and weighs 180 pounds.  He has black hair, brown eyes and a tattoo across the front of his neck that reads “Iszzy”.

Gordon should be considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of Gordon is asked to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.  Callers are never asked for their name nor are they required to testify in court.  If a caller’s tip leads to an arrest they could be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1000.
