Chesapeake, Va. – A woman was attacked near dusk Saturday while walking her dogs on a path in Greenbrier, .

Patricia Ham knows the victim and came home Saturday night to find detectives in her backyard investigating a crime scene.

“She said he came up behind her underneath her arms. She ripped off his arm,” says Ham. “Then he put his hand around her neck. I guess at the same time he scratched her.”

Ham says her friend regularly walks her dogs along the water behind the mall, but she doesn't take long walks because she does not want to get too far away from home.

She feels safe gong to the pathway and back.

Ham says it was right on the edge of where she normally turns around, the spot where the lighting isn't as good and she turns around, that a man lunged towards her and tried to rob the victim.

There is no suspect description, and the victim was not injured in the attack.

At this time police haven't arrested anyone.
