Norfolk, Va.- Sentara Norfolk General prepared for Hurricane evacuation on Saturday.

As most hospitals have to prepare for the unthinkable, Sentara trains for the worst by staging exercises each year.

During the drill, they acted as if the elevators were not working and had to use stair chairs and med sleds to move patients.

Workers got together to think about how they would deal with unforeseen problems and the hospital set up a command center during the drill as a central place of communication so that patients and workers were on the same page.

The staff hopes that these drills will prevent any surprises in emergency situations.
