UPDATE: Man dies after being shot on Sierra Drive in Virginia Beach

Virginia Beach, Va. - A man has died as a result of a shooting in Virginia Beach, police tell NewsChannel 3.

Calls came in about the shooting on Wednesday, July 30, at 9:06 p.m. When police arrived in the 1400 block of Sierra Drive, they found a man who had been shot.

The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead at approximately 11:34 p.m.

The victim has been identified as 24-year-old Gilbert C. McGriff III of the 2000 block of Tanner Court in Virginia Beach.

The investigation is ongoing by the Department’s Homicide Unit, police say.
