Suffolk Fire & Rescue acquire three new ambulances

Suffolk Fire & Rescue were recently delivered three new ambulances that will allow them to continue to provide emergency medical services to citizens.

The new ambulances will be placed as Medic 1 at Station 1 on Market Street, Medic 3 at Station 3 on White Marsh Road and Medic 5 at Station 5 on Bridge Road. The current Medic 1, 5, and 7 units will be placed into reserve status.

Commenting on the new vehicles, Chief Cedric Scott stated, “I am very excited about the delivery of our new ambulances and I am most grateful for the continued support that we have received from the Mayor, City Council, and City Manager. The ambulances are a valuable asset that will be used to assist us in meeting our top priority, which is providing high quality emergency services.”

The new ambulances were manufactured by Horton Emergency Vehicles in Columbus, Ohio and features include a 2014 Ford F450 chassis, patient compartment air bag system, Stryker Power Load stretcher system, additional emergency lighting to include traffic directional bar, and LED patient compartment lighting. These units are the first in the area to be outfitted with a Liquid Spring hydraulic ride rear suspension system.
