James City County, Va. - Twenty-two year old Kimberly Michelle Hinds is now facing felony child abuse and assault charges, after police say she filmed herself harming her two-year-old daughter.

“In one video, she is kicking her two-year-old daughter off a training toilet onto the floor, another video she is throwing things at the child while the child is standing, knocking the child to the floor,” says James City County Deputy Chief of Police Steve Rubino.

Steve Rubino says most of the videos were taken on Hines' cellphone at her Williamsburg apartment.

“It was difficult to watch, heart wrenching, no one likes to see anybody in pain, let alone a little child, and to see that type of abuse, disregard for wellbeing of child, it was terrible,” says Rubino.

Police say they learned about the abuse from child protective services after Hines sent the cell phone videos to her boyfriend.

“Fortunately, he did the right thing and forwarded them to Child Protective Services, just tragic for a two-year-old to go through that kind of abuse,” says Rubino.

Hinds was in court today where a judge denied her bond.  She will stay in jail until at least her next court hearing.
