Newport News, Va. – A man has been arrested after police say he exposed his genitalia to three girls over the weekend.

At about 4:10 p.m. on June 28, 2014, officers responded to a home in the Oyster Point section to a report of a man having exposed himself to three Newport News girls in the first block of Commercial Place.

The girls went to the home of one of the victims and called police.

Two 15-year-old girls and a 14-year-old girl told officers that a man had approached them and tried to talk to them. The man then pulled his pants down exposing his genitalia to the girls, police say.

The victims were able to give officers a good description of the suspect, which was passed along to other officers in the area.

A very short time later, police say an officer found a man matching the description in a nearby parking lot.

Through the officers’ investigation, the suspect was identified and arrested.

The suspect has been charged with being drunk in public and two counts of misdemeanor indecent exposure.

Due to one of the victims being 14-years-old, the man was also charged with one count of felony indecent liberties with a child.

The suspect is identified as 40-year-old Fernando Lopez of the first block of Hogan Drive. He was placed in the custody of the Newport News City Jail.
