Victim identified in fatal shooting on Downing Street in Hampton

Hampton, Va. - Police in Hampton are asking for the public's assistance in identifying the suspect or suspects in a late-evening homicide on Downing Street.

The 911 call about the shooting came in at 10:49 p.m. on Thursday, June 19.

When police arrived they found a 17-year-old Hampton man, identified as Adonus Deondre Turner, suffering from gunshot wounds to his upper and lower torso inside his residence.

Members of the Hampton Fire and Rescue Division transported Turner by ambulance to a local hospital, where his condition continued to deteriorate and he later died.

Police say he was shot after he opened his front door when someone rang the bell.

At the time when the shooting occurred there were additional people inside but there were no additional injuries.

Police say they do not think this was a random act of violence.
