The Chesapeake Bay’s environment is improving as it has become the new nesting ground for Ospreys along the Bay.

They were nearly wiped out, reaching a low of 1,400 pairs before the ban of DDT in the early 1970’s.

Due to the ban, Ospreys are nearly back to 10,000 pairs.

College of William and Mary biology research professor, Dr. Bryan Watts, said “The Chesapeake Bay is very productive. All fish eating birds are doing great even bald eagles are recovering.”
