Family of man shot by Norfolk Police to file wrongful death claim

The attorney for the family of David Latham, has notified the City of Norfolk of their intent to file a wrongful death claim and lawsuit, a family friend confirmed to NewsChannel 3 on Friday.

Latham was shot and killed by Norfolk Police on Friday, June 6th after reportedly threatening officers with a knife.

It was the second shooting death by a Norfolk Police officer in less than a week. The previous Wednesday, another knife-wielding suspect was shot as police were serving an emergency custody order at Calvary Towers. The suspect later died in the hospital.

David Latham’s funeral will be held on Saturday, June 14th. A fundraiser has been established to help pay for the arrangements.
