Newport News Police searching for man wanted in firearm assault incident

Newport News Police are looking for a man who they say was involved in a crime that took place May 3rd in the area of Michael Irvin Drive and Woodhaven Road.

Police say a 26-year-old Newport News man reported to them that a red Dodge Charger passed his car and stopped in front of him, blocking his path.

Two men got out of the car and came up to the victim’s car. One of the men pointed a gun at the victim and the victim said he put his car in reverse and left the area.

The man who pointed the gun has been identified as 25-year-old Kwuame Edwards.

He has warrants in Newport News for brandishing a firearm, assault and unauthorized use of a vehicle. He is also facing murder and firearms charges from Hampton

He should be considered armed and dangerous.
