Melissa Johnson: Child abuse/neglect

Yorktown, Va. – A Yorktown mother was charged with child abuse/neglect after her two toddlers were found walking down the street late Sunday night.

York-Poquoson Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to Hedgerow Lane in the Foxwood neighborhood around 11:50 p.m. Sunday night.

The two toddlers, ages 2 and 4, were found and identified. Deputies went to their residence and attempted to get someone to come to the door for over 20 minutes without any answer.

A relative eventually returned home and the mother of the children, identified as Melissa Johnson, came to the door.

She was charged with two counts of child abuse/neglect.
