Suffolk Police and Suffolk Fire & Rescue are currently on the scene of a bus crash involving a City of Suffolk school bus.

The bus was coming from Creekside Elementary School and was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Bridge Road and Harbour View Boulevard at 4:00 p.m.

The bus (#224) was transporting 51 students from the school.

The vehicle, a Toyota RAV-4, had merged to avoid hitting another vehicle that had improperly changed lanes.

As a result, the back right side of the Toyota hit the front left side of the bus.

The vehicle that had improperly changed lanes fled the scene. It was described as a dark-colored Lexus with dark-tinted windows and a blue license plate cover.

Four students initially complained of bumped heads or bumped knees as a result of the accident. However, only two students were seen by rescue personnel.

Those two students were being held in the ambulance until their parents responded, or they would be taken home by School Board personnel.

Another Suffolk Public School bus responded to the scene to transport the remaining students home.

Police request that anyone that may have information related to the at-fault black Lexus to contact Crime Line at 1-888-Lock-U-Up.
