Carolina Beach, N.C. – A dolphin was found stranded on Carolina Beach early Thursday morning, according to a report from WECT.

UNCW Marine Wildlife responded, the New Hanover County Dispatch said Thursday. They say the dolphin was alive and crews were trying to help it back into the water.

A veterinarian was on the scene and said the dolphin was alive when she arrived. The dolphin was euthanized and taken back to UNCW for an autopsy, WECT says.
