Dozens of fallen service members were honored Wednesday at Fort Eustis.

The Transportation Corps honored 47 soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice.

They'll be forever remembered for their service to the Army and nation.

Sergeant Justin Johnson is one of those service members.

He was one of four soldiers killed when the Taliban attacked the Bagram Air Force Base near Kabul in June of last year.

Eric Lawson and Caryn Nouv were also honored today. They died while fighting overseas last year. All were stationed at Fort Eustis.

A plaque with their names was unveiled during the ceremony.

"It hit everyone hard who knew them. But the people it hit hardest for was those that worked with them every day - those soldiers that were in their charge and those directly over them," said Captain Neil Stevenson.

But nothing compares to the loss felt by the families of the soldiers. Some traveled from Ohio and New York to be at Fort Eustis for the ceremony to say goodbye to their loved ones during a final salute.

The ceremony began at 10 a.m. this morning and was held at the Fort Eustis Chapel. While Fort Lee is home to the Transportation Corps. headquarters, the chapel is home to memorial honoring more than 1,900 service members. Soldiers were asked to come there often to take a moment to reflect on their service to our country.
