Man ejected from vehicle, others injured after suspect crashes while fleeing from police

Norfolk, Va. – A man is in the hospital with serious injuries and others were injured after a crash occurred while a suspect was fleeing from policeĀ on Wednesday evening.

Emergency officials received calls about the incident at 5:16 p.m.

They responded to the scene at 19th and Granby Streets.

They tried to make a traffic stop on a vehicle and instead of stopping, police say the suspect sped off.

Officers did not pursue the vehicle. They say the vehicle hit another vehicle and the driver got out of the car and ran away on foot.

He was captured by police and arrested.

The passenger was ejected and taken to Sentara Norfolk General with serious injuries.

The driver and passenger of the other vehicle suffered minor injuries.

Police are still investigating this case.
