A Franklin woman was burned out of her home. She's now found a new place to live and thanks to some good Samaritans, she has even more good news!

The first time we met Magdeline Jenkins, it was last month when she thanked two Franklin police officers for pulling her unconscious from her burning home on Bracy Street.

She woke up in the hospital and had lost all of her belongings in her home.
One of our generous viewers saw that story last month. Thomas Caldwell was touched by Jenkins' situation, so he and his family showed up at her new apartment with his pickup truck loaded with items he wanted to give away.

Caldwell had some furniture in storage he wanted to donate: a dining room set, end tables, a bag of clothes. Jenkins was so appreciative. "Oh, I'm so happy. I thank you so much from the bottom of my heart."

Why was it important for Caldwell to do this? "I don't know. I like to pay it forward, so I'd rather her have it if she needs it. She lost everything. I feel better if I bless her with it."

And that's why we wanted to present him with a NewsChannel 3 People Taking Action award and a $100 Visa gift card from our community partner Southern Bank.
The recognition left Caldwell nearly speechless. "Yeah. I'm just shocked. Never had it like that in my life."
