Virginia Beach police investigate two homicides in neighborhood, hours apart

Virginia Beach, Virginia – Police are investigating two homicides in the Lake Edward neighborhood in Virginia Beach over the weekend that happened just hours apart.

The first homicide happened in the 5900 block of Margate Avenue around 10:30pm Friday.

Two people were shot.

One of the victims, 25-year-old James Jones died as a result of his injuries. The other victim remains hospitalized.

The case remains under investigation.

The second homicide happened about a half mile away in the 700 block of Barrison Way around 5:00am Saturday.

Police arrived on scene to find 19-year-old Keshmario Leetrell Middleton, suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Police have not said if the two homicides are related.
