Virginia Beach, Va. - Kim Williams Hough's kids and grandkids are always outside playing. But when the sun goes down, play time is over.

She says in the last few weeks, she's been hearing more and more gun shots. It’s been happening about twice a week.

Those in the neighborhood feel the shots aren't meant to harm anyone, just people playing with guns, but what concerns those on Arthur Avenue is when a bullet comes up, it must come down.

”The kids could be playing with their bikes and basketballs and just get hit and no more playing; that's the only problem to me. I don't know why they are shooting,” says one neighbor.

”It could be very dangerous depending on the different types of guns they use.”

They say the shots are heard at night and come from a city-owned basketball court that is known for trouble.

There is a sign that's clearly states no one is allowed on the court after dark, but almost everyone says that sign is completely ignored. Many didn't even know it was there.

It's posted at one entrance facing away from the neighborhood. NewsChannel 3 took action and called the city of Virginia Beach to find out why.

The parks and recreation department says there should be signs posted at both entrances, but there wasn't.
