NewsChannel 3 is taking action for a local Army veteran in need, and for the dogs he loves so much.

Harry Derby spent the better part of the last 15 years giving everything he has to rescue dogs in need. But now it’s the rescuer that needs rescuing.

Faced with health and financial problems, Derby needs his remaining six dogs adopted as soon as possible.

A local nonprofit, SecondChanceHabitat.org, is helping Harry with the application and review process.

Available are:

  • Myra, a 4- or 5-year old pug.
  • Ling Ling, a blind Shih Tzu.

  • Roxy, a 10-year-old black Lab
  • Mildred, a yellow Lab and;
  • Smokey, a black Lab

  • Jessica

    I would love to adopt the yellow lab!! He would be a great addition to our family and given unconditional love, with acres of land to run and play with our children :-) please contact me if we sound like the family to give your beloved pet a loving family and home

  • Frances

    Folks, I would suggest going to their web site and contacting them directly if you want to give one of the animals a forever home.

    I have called and emailed the organization assisting with the adoptions a couple times with no success. Is anyone else having the same issue? I am highly interested in helping.
