Virginia Beach, Va. - A thief was caught in the act, breaking into a Virginia Beach home. Surveillance cameras outside a house on Liberty Ridge Road recorded his every move.

"You can clearly see that there are two security cameras,” says Angelica Montez, the homeowner. “There's one right here that caught the front door image."

The man broke in on the afternoon of March 5. When Montez came home, she couldn't believe what he stole.

"My stomach sank,” she says. “You know I feel like a part of me was taken away."

He took off with two laptops, but more importantly a Navy coin that was engraved with her husband's name and a rosary the couple received at their wedding.

"Out of all things for him to take a rosary, that's just sad,” Montez says. “I think what made it worse was that it was Ash Wednesday so that's what hit hard."

Montez and her family just moved into their home a few weeks ago. The cameras were left by the previous owner.

"If he did notice the surveillance he probably thought they weren't working at the time,” she says. “They were working."

Montez says the man spent about 30 minutes inside, and then leaves through a side door. Police haven't been able to track him down.

If you know who this man is, you can take action against crime, and call the CrimeLine.

"Hopefully with the surveillance he gets caught so he doesn't do this to any other future families," Montez says.
