Man arrested in Elizabeth City drug raid indicted in 2012 Suffolk homicide

Suffolk Police say a 28-year-old Sunbury, North Carolina man was arrested on Tuesday by the Elizabeth City Police Department after being indicted on murder charges in Suffolk.

Michael Jamil Eason was found during a raid by Narcotics Officers with the Elizabeth City Police Department.

Elizabeth City Police say the raid was conducted after a deputy with the Gates County Sheriff’s Office made contact with officers and notified them that two people of interest had moved into a local trailer park.

Narcotics Officers and Investigators went to the trailer park to conduct surveillance while processes were being checked and warrants were being written.

The search warrant was executed at 8:40 p.m.

CaroChristy Lynn Cato, 32, was found in the residence and placed in custody. She was wanted on warrants from Perquimans County and Gates County for Conspiracy to Traffic Opiates. She was placed under a $25,000.00 secured bond awaiting a March 6th first appearance in Pasquotank County District Court.

Eason was spotted leaving and going to another residence in the trailer park. Officers then split surveillance and concentrated on both residences.

He was eventually arrested on fugitive warrants.

Police say Michael Jamil Eason was directly indicted on charges of First Degree Murder, Use of Firearm in Commission of Felony, Attempted Robbery, Conspiracy to Commit Robbery and Shoot/Cut/Stab or Wound in Commission of Felony related to the homicide of William Kendale Jordan which occurred on December 17, 2012.

He was placed in Albemarle District Jail under a $750,000.00 secured bond awaiting an extradition hearing.

Last June, Suffolk Police arrested another man after he turned himself in for the homicide.
