Two arrested in string of burglaries in Currituck County

Currituck County, N.C. – A man and woman have been arrested in a string of burglaries that happened in Currituck County on Saturday.

37-year-old David Anthony Fantone and 36-year-old Elizabeth Irene Cullipher face multiple charges.

Break-ins were reported Saturday morning at the Peck Basket on Caratoke Highway, the Powells Market next to the Peck Basket, and the Currituck Feed and Seed on Caratoke Highway.

A large amount of assorted collectable coins, jewelry and a money jar for Animal Lovers Assistance League was stolen from the Peck Basket, and the Honor Box at Powells Market was also stolen from.

Later Saturday evening police received information that two people were cashing in coins at several locations using CoinStar machines, and Fantone and Chllipher were identified from surveillance video.

The pair were arrested heading south in the Moyock area around 1am Sunday morning. Several items reported missing from the Peck Basket were located inside their vehicle.

Fantone was charged with two counts Felony Breaking/Entering and Larceny, 1 count Attempted Felony Breaking and Entering, one count Injury to Real Property and Driving While License Revoked.

Cullipher was charged with two counts Felony Breaking/Entering and Larceny, one count Obtaining Property by False Pretense, one count Injury to Real Property, and one count Attempted Felony Breaking and Entering.
