Virginia Beach, Va. – According to AAA, in the past week, the average price for regular unleaded gas has dropped three cents in Hampton Roads. And with one weekend of shopping left before Christmas, that has drivers smiling.

“I’m glad, I do a lot of driving, a hundred plus miles a day, so lower gas prices means more money in my pocket,” said Larry Craft.

Larry was filling up at the Kroger on Virginia Beach Boulevard Thursday, where the price was $3.11 for regular, seven cents below the average in Hampton Roads of $3.18.

NewsChannel 3 also found gas for $3.11 at the Wawa on Virginia Beach Boulevard.

The average in the Commonwealth sits at $3.14, down a nickel from last week.

Both the state average and Hampton Roads average are lower than the national average of $3.21.

“I’m always glad when they go down it is great because I spend less for gas, I have more for other things, other necessities,” said Kay Wright.

With Christmas just six days away, the list of necessities can really add up between gifts and food, to traveling to see loved ones.
