In Norfolk, the warning period is over - starting today, you will be fined if you're caught running the red light at some intersections.

One of those intersections is Brambleton Avenue and St. Paul's Blvd.

Beginning Monday, December 9, 2013, you will be fined if one of those new cameras catches you running a red light at some intersections.

The cameras were installed at two intersections last month - St. Paul's Blvd. and Brambleton Avenue - and Little Creek and Chesapeake Blvd.

There was a month warning period, but starting today, drivers caught running red lights will be issued a $50 ticket.

Redflex Traffic Systems, the company running the cameras, charges around $4,000 per camera.

They say the city will generate at least that much revenue in traffic fines.

Police hope the traffic cameras will help lower the number of accidents at the two intersections.
