Newport News, Va. - An accused Newport News drug dealer is on the run. Police say they busted the woman at a gas station with heroin.

They arrested her, but police say she skipped out on court and disappeared

They are looking for 35-year-old Jacinta Cooke.

Police say Cooke and four others were arrested in March at a gas station on J. Clyde Morris Boulevard.

“Two detectives saw some unusual things going on in the gas station parking lot involving these people and two vehicles,” says Holly McPherson, Assistant Public Information Officer for the Newport News Police Department.

Police investigated and say they found heroin on Cooke.

She was arrested and charged with possession and distribution of heroin and conspiracy.

Investigators say fighting drugs in Newport News is important because drugs are often linked to other crimes.

“It can lead to burglaries, robberies, larcenies. Drugs don't just affect one individual. They can affect an entire community,” says McPherson.

Police say Cooke has not shown up for court to face those drug charges, so they have a new warrant out for her.

Police are hoping one of our viewers recognizes her.

She has a tattoo of the name "Quincy" on her neck written in cursive.

Police say she should be considered dangerous.

“She is somebody who is fleeing from the law. I can't say that she has a weapon, but you should always take caution when somebody does have charges and maybe they do not want to go back to jail,” says McPherson.

Newport News police say Cooke was recently living on 21st Street in the southeast neighborhood.

They believe she could still be staying in that area.
