Suffolk, Va. (WTKR) - NewsChannel 3 is Taking Action and Getting Results to help the Horton Wreath Society honor our departed national heroes.

Every December, the society places a wreath at the grave of every veteran buried at the Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk.

On Friday, we told you about their plea for donations, after they came up short on their goal for the first time since 2008.

As of Friday, they had only raised 57% of their goal, with about $15,000 left with a deadline this week to place the order for the wreaths.

That's when NewsChannel 3 took action, presenting the Horton Wreath Society with $1,000.

Since the story aired, our viewers have taken action as well, including one man who made a donation of several thousand dollars.

On Tuesday, the Horton Wreath Society announced that they have now raised the necessary funds to put a wreath on the grave of every veteran at the Horton cemetery.

In an e-mail, Treasurer Becca Landick wrote:

"The Horton Wreath Society is humbled to announce that through the generous contributions of our patriotic donors, The Horton Wreath Society, families and the general public are invited to place a wreath on EVERY grave-site and columbarium row at the Albert G. Horton, Jr., Memorial Veterans Cemetery on December 14, 2013 at 9:00 AM.

The Horton Wreath Society deeply appreciates the response given to the NewsChannel 3 WTKR Taking Action and for all their assistance in sharing our cause and their own donation.

Again, the Horton Wreath Society is deeply humbled by the generosity of our patrons and we hope to see you all on December 14th."
