Nearly 50 students are all okay after a school bus accident in Camden County on Wednesday morning.

According to Superintendent Melvin Hawkins, the accident occurred at around 7:45 a.m. at the intersection of South Mill Dam Road and Highway 343 after picking up kids at the last stop and heading to Grandy Primary and Camden Intermediate Schools.

A car driving southbound on Highway 343 hit the bus as the bus was trying to turn left off South Mill Dam Road to go north on Highway 343.

Five students were taken to Albemarle Hospital to be checked out but all of those students were released and in class by 11:00 a.m.

The driver of the Plymouth was taken to the hospital also.
